I thought I would let you know what I’m planning for Season Three of the Wize Woman STORIES podcast. I’ve taken a short break to plan, decide, and gather the pieces needed for the first episode, with the working title “Trees I Have Known and Loved.”
As soon as you read that title, your mind likely traveled to the trees you climbed as a child, the fruit trees in your grandparents’ backyard, or the forests you’ve wandered through, pausing to sit and listen.
Trees can be silent witnesses to the many stages of our lives and to those who have gone before us.
There’s a film currently playing in alternative theatres called Silent Friend that I recommend you see. It’s beautifully patient as it tells the story of our connection to plants, and particularly to a very old Ginkgo biloba tree.
Seeing the film stirred something in me. It brought forward memories, emotions, and reflections about my own lifelong relationship with trees. And so it feels natural that this becomes the opening episode of a new podcast series exploring our personal relationship with Earth through story, memory, and lived experience.
But I get ahead of myself.
Let’s begin with a simple observation: trees affect every layer of our being.
Your Physical Body responds first. Beneath trees, your breath deepens, muscles soften, and your nervous system begins to settle. The scents of pine, leaves, and damp earth carry subtle medicine that calms the body and helps restore a sense of balance. Even a brief walk in the woods can leave you feeling renewed.
Your Mental Body also shifts in their presence. Thoughts slow. The endless inner dialogue quiets. Trees exist in a rhythm entirely different from the urgency of human life, reminding us that not everything needs to be rushed or solved immediately.
Your Energy Body feels a tree’s frequency almost instantly. Many people instinctively lean against a tree when grieving, exhausted, or overwhelmed. We wrap our arms around a tree trunk and sense a grounding exchange take place. Trees are the energy conductors that stand between earth and sky, deeply rooted while continually reaching toward light.
Your Wisdom Body recognizes trees as guides and teachers. They reveal resilience, surrender, patience, and trust in the seasons of life.
Your Divine Body is awakened by the silent vibrations of intelligence pulsing both within the tree and yourself. Standing beneath an ancient tree, we often feel awe and humility. In their silence, trees remind us that we are not separate from creation, but deeply woven into its living mystery.
As you move through your week, take some time to step outside and reconnect with the living world around you. Go sit beneath a tree. Rest your hand against its bark. Notice how your body responds when you slow down long enough to truly be present.
You may even find yourself hugging a tree, something many of us once laughed about, until we actually did it and felt the quiet comfort and steadiness offered in return.
I would also love to hear your tree stories. Was there a special tree from your childhood? A forest path that helped carry you through grief or change? A tree you still visit? Feel free to share your memories with me by replying to this newsletter or adding your thoughts in the comments.
Our stories of Earth are often deeply personal, yet wonderfully universal. I want listeners to understand that the damage we do to our planet, our lifeblood, will be reflected in the small things we love and treasure. Like trees.
And stay tuned for the first episode of Season Three of the Wize Woman STORIES podcast, Trees I Have Known and Loved, where we’ll begin exploring our relationship with the natural world through memory, story, reflection, and the wisdom of nature that surrounds us every day.
In service to your highest good,
Delia
